U9s played at Pacific Lutheran College. The 2 week break had a noticeable effect, with our team lacking structure and vigour, as we struggled to find the form of our previous game. Pacific had a number of strong players who we did well to keep out in the first half which was better structured defensively but lacked attack, and it was reversed in the second half but we failed to score and we went down a few goals. However, with more players now onboard and more set team positions we should continue to progress. Matt picked up MVP award for his persistence and holding position. Good effort all round but better luck next game Barracudas.
U12s met the same Bli Bli team from the trials and the progress since was noticeable with our Sharks this time dominating in their half, but unfortunately wasting our opportunities and only going to the break 1 goal a piece. Continuing the attack in the second half the Sharks took the lead again from a well deserved goal buried by Jye. However mistakes again cost us 2 points from a one on one and a strong shot, with Jarrah very nearly keeping the ball out of his net. MVP went to Adam for great runs with the ball and development play. The team should be proud of their improvement, and better results should come with continued effort in training.
Enjoy the long weekend and we’ll see everyone back for training on Wednesday.
